Our Valued Client, Daniel Miles 



Daniel Miles, 21 year old violist, of South Hill, Washington, is currently in his senior year at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music studying under world renowned violist and pedagogue , Peter Slowik. He began his informal viola studies at age 10 only to begin formal viola studies at age 15 under John Scanlon, former professor of chamber and viola studies at the University of California Irvine. As for orchestral experiences, Daniel is a sub violist for the firelands symphony and has played with National Youth Orchestra USA in it’s 4th year at Carnegie Hall in New York, and throughout europe in Smetana Hall, Opera Berlioz, Tivoli Hall and the Royal concertgebouw. Through NYO-USA he has had the privilege of playing under esteemed conductors, James Ross, Valery Gergiev and Christoph Eschenbach. As an avid fan of chamber music, Daniel has been invited t center stage for strings and Heifetz International music festival and attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival, studying under Carol Rodland.  He has also participated in his school’s winter term chamber music intensive, where he went down to Texas after the hurricane in 2018, helped rebuild some of the houses while also playing music and chamber music at churches, relief centers and women shelters. Throughout the summers Daniel Also studies with Mara Gearman and Arie Schacter of Seattle Symphony.
