Cello Recital

Student Cello Recital on April 24 & 25, 2012
Chapel Performance Space 4649
Located at the Historic Good Sheperd Center
4649 Sunnyside Avenue, Wallingford

"Our next student recital is on April 25th 2012 at 7 PM at the Chapel Performance center which is located at 50th and Sunnyside Av. in Wallingford. Our featured soloist, Sam Kuo, will perform 4 works including a Romberg Duet. Sam just turned 6 and has played several recitals. Here is a link to his most recent recital. Other works include a cello quartet called Opera for Tron ( from the movie.) Tera Silver Rain will perform part of the 2nd movement of the Dvorak cello concerto and Iman Hein will be playing the prelude from the Bach cello Suite in C major. Everything from pop to Bach and it should be a lot of fun. We all hope you can come out on Wednesday April 25th for this student cello recital.

On the 24th of April I will perform the Shelomo Cello Concerto with Pianist Akiko Kinney. We will also play Kol Nedrei by Max Bruch with a surprise opening piece for cello and piano. This rectal is also at the Chapel Performance center at 7:00 PM. Shelomo is a very beautiful piece with a very difficult piano accompaniment. Two recitals back to back! I hope you can attend them both. If you have any questions about these recitals please contact me at 206-384-1123. ~ Don Larson"

SUNDAY, APRIL 1, 2012, 2:00PM, TOWN HALL

A very special event is planned on April 1, 2012. The Thalia Symphony Orchestra will be performing at Town Hall. Frances Walton will be conducting. The performance begins at 2:00 PM. Tickets and information can be found by visiting the website:  http://thaliasymphony.org

A little bit about the Orchestra (taken from their website):

"The Thalia Symphony Orchestra began in 1949 when violinist, teacher, and conductor Mikael Scheremetiew founded it as an outlet for Seattle-area musicians. Seattle music legend Stanley Chapple led the orchestra for many years. From 1987 to 2010 it was under the direction of Dr. Eric Hanson. Since 2010, TSO has been under the direction of Maestro Stephen Rogers Radcliffe. The orchestra operates under the umbrella of Thalia Allied Artists, Inc., a nonprofit educational and arts institution."

There is also a luncheon before the concert in honor of Frances Walton and her many contributions to music in our region and to the Thalia Orchestra. The luncheon, with emcee Brian Lowe from KING-FM, is in the Downstairs at Town Hall from 11:45 AM to 1:30 PM with the concert to follow at 2 PM in the Concert Hall.
